Corbett Le Quesne have announced the key note speaker at this years International Family Law Conference.
“We are delighted and proud to announce that Lady Hale is coming to Jersey in October to give the key note speech at our International Family Law Conference” announced Advocate Barbara Corbett, Senior Partner at Family Law Firm Corbett Le Quesne.
We wanted to announce this on International Women’s Day because she is such a passionate trailblazer and pioneer. In 2004 Lady Hale was appointed the first female Lord of Appeal in Ordinary and she also served as the first female President of the Supreme Court in England and Wales. Lady Hale is possibly most well-known for ruling that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson acted unlawfully in suspending Parliament over Brexit in September 2019.
Advocate Corbett commented “Our firm went to the Jersey Arts Centre to listen to her speak when she came to Jersey and we couldn’t have been more delighted when she agreed to share her thoughts with us this October.
“International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Family law impacts women’s lives disproportionately so we are always pleased to promote International Women’s Day.”
The Honourable Mrs Justice Judd QC, Chair of the Family Bar Association will be chairing the conference.
