Condor Ferries is to donate £10,000 to local Channel Islands’ charities and organisations this summer by re-establishing its grant based initiative.
The Condor Community Fund, last run in 2019 but suspended due to the financial impact of the pandemic, will provide donations of up to £1,500 to support environmental or sustainable initiatives and community-based projects. Applications can be made from 14 June with successful recipients notified in July.
Greg Yeoman, Condor’s Commercial Director, said: ‘We sadly had no choice but to curtail our programme of sponsorship and community activities during Covid but recognise the selfless, good work undertaken by many local organisations and charities across the Islands. We are therefore really pleased to now be in a position to restart the Fund.’
‘In particular, we are keen to hear from schools, charities, amateur sports clubs, social enterprises and residents in the two Bailiwicks. We know that many give up their time for community activities and we would like to support their efforts in making a real difference, not just now but into the future.’
The process comprises of an online submission followed by an assessment of the suitability of each application based on set criteria. These include sustainability, benefit locally, enjoyment for others and how the work will be continued after completion. In 2019, 83 applications were received and 15 projects subsequently awarded grants.
Organisations that can apply include community groups, unincorporated associations, cooperatives, schools, social enterprises and amateur sports clubs.
