Condor has been notified that its passenger sailings between St Malo and Jersey this weekend should operate after an interim agreement was reached with the stevedores.
Following further disruption earlier this week, meetings have since taken place between the Sous Préfet of St Malo, the stevedores and their representatives. It is now anticipated that passenger services on Friday 31 July, Saturday 01, Sunday 02 and Monday 03 August will operate for this weekend only although freight departures remain suspended.
Elwyn Dop, Condor’s Operations Director, said he was hopeful that any further delays or cancellation of passenger services had been avoided and the company is monitoring the situation carefully. “We are grateful that the St Malo authorities have brokered a temporary arrangement with the dockers that should see us sail Condor Rapide this weekend as planned.
“It is also understood that discussions are underway which could result in a permanent solution being found. Obviously, any ongoing disruption is regrettable and totally unacceptable so we look forward to being able to resume all sailings in due course.”
Mr Dop added that the company is in contact with customers with bookings for this weekend and notifying foot passengers that they will need to carry their own luggage, due to no stevedores being available.
