Local beach and pool lifesaving club, Jersey Aquatic Rescue, is now equipped to continue teaching valuable survival and lifesaving skills to Islanders following a recent donation from Condor.
The Condor Community Fund has provided funds for the purchase of several state-of-the-art lifesaving manikins for use by trainers who deliver essential skills to children from the age of eight upwards.
Alan Le Pavoux, Jersey Aquatic Rescue’s chairman, was delighted with the new arrivals.
“We have been running courses and training for nearly 20 years to thousands of young people and adults who develop skills that have saved lives. We are passionate about teaching vital CPR to both adults and children.
“The lifesaving manikins help us train for pool lifesaving and beach rescues, so the donation allows us to continue supporting those in our community and we are very grateful. Without the generous support of Condor we would never have been able to afford this equipment.”
The new manikins provide real time feedback to trainees and use Bluetooth technology and a mobile app for an iPad or phone.
Tracy Peters, Condor’s Community Officer, commented: “As a ferry company we have an obvious affinity with water and the sea so are very pleased to support the Jersey Aquatic Rescue Club and its worthy initiative of teaching such valuable skills.”
Condor’s Community Fund was established earlier this year and supports Islanders who giveup their time to develop community activities. The Fund saw 83 applications from across the islands with a focus on sustainability, local benefit and enjoyment for others.
