Around 100 local youngsters who attend the Vazon Elim Youth Clubs can now benefit from new sports equipment following a recent donation from the Condor Community Fund.
The company has provided funding for the purchase of basketball hoops, volleyball nets, football goals, bats, balls, cones and nerf guns, which are now in use by the three groups that attend the community hall in Rue des Goddards at Vazon on Friday evenings.
Lois Batiste, Youth Leader at Vazon Elim, was very pleased with the new equipment. “Our three clubs see four year olds up to secondary school aged children attend so we are always keen to offer a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities for the youngsters to participate in and enjoy.
“The donation from Condor has helped us update our sports kit which the children have been enjoying. It has been very much appreciated.”
The Vazon Elim Youth Clubs have been supporting the local community for more than 30 years. There is an Acorn Club for 4-7 olds with around 20 members, 50 attendees of the 7-11 year old Transformers and up to 35 youngsters in the Vibe group for secondary school age.
Greg Yeoman, Condor’s Commercial Director said: “Hopefully the equipment will prove useful and enjoyable for many children over the coming years. We are delighted to be able help Lois and the team of volunteers at Vazon Elim as they really do a great job in our local community.”
Condor’s Community Fund was established in 2019 and supports Islanders who give up their time to develop community activities. The Fund sees numerous applications from across the Islands with a focus on sustainability, local benefit and enjoyment for others.
