Aspiring local and visiting artists of all ages can now fuel their creative juices following a recent donation from Condor Ferries.
The Condor Community Fund has provided Guernsey Arts with a grant for the purchase of outdoor easels and materials for use at Candie Gardens and the Greenhouse Gallery. The new kit is for community groups, visitors and school groups and it is hoped the free ‘plein air’ workshops will help promote the arts and the positivity of working outside.
Louise Le Pelley, from Guernsey Arts, was really pleased with the support and grateful that Condor had been willing to help with this new initiative: “At Guernsey Arts, we champion access to the arts for everyone across all disciplines, so the welcome donation from Condor for easels and materials will support the many regular visits from schools, community groups and tourists and allow us to offer arts activities for free.
“We are lucky to have a fabulous view of the harbour from our location in Candie Gardens, so can now take our community visitors onto the terrace to paint who will hopefully be inspired by such a backdrop.
“The arrival of this new equipment also coincided perfectly with our French residency at the Greenhouse Gallery, featuring three artists, from Rennes, Jersey and Guernsey, whose amazing work culminated in a touring show last week.”
Condor’s Community Fund was established in 2019 and supports Islanders who give up their time to develop community activities. The Fund sees numerous applications from across the Islands with a focus on sustainability, local benefit and enjoyment for others.
Justin Amey, Condor’s Head of Sales and Marketing, commented: “The applications we receive through the Fund really show there is some fabulous work being done in our community. We are therefore really pleased to support Louise and the team at Guernsey Arts and hope this inspires Islanders young and old to be creative and use the new equipment.”
