It was a packed agenda at the fifth annual Citywealth Forum that took place 13th May, at The Skyline London in The City, overlooking The Tower of London.
With brilliant sunshine streaming through the windows, the atmosphere was buzzing with thought leaders discussing burning issues that affect the wealth management sector within a geopolitical context.
Update on the International Financial Centres (IFC) was the first topic of the day, where Amy Bryant, Deputy Chief Executive of Jersey Finance, and a nominee for the Citywealth Powerwomen Awards 2024, reported on the latest developments. She pointed out the advantages of Jersey as a leading IFC, such as stability, legal certainty and the excellence of infrastructure. She reminded the audience that Jersey’s trust law is the template adopted by many other jurisdictions worldwide. Furthermore, Jersey is placed in the top ten jurisdictions worldwide by Moneyval, the monitoring body to counter money laundering.
Sarah Bartram- Lora Reina , director at Stonehage Fleming and President of Jersey Association of Trust Companies, took part in the debate about Trusts, while James Dickinson, partner at Jersey law firm Dickinson Gleeson, and Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey, participated in the Litigation Strategies debate.
The evening was concluded by keynote speaker the Rt Hon Penny Mordaunt, a Parliamentarian for 14 years, and the first and only woman to be Secretary of State for Defence as well as Minister for the Armed Forces. Mainly engaged in a number of charities at present, she spoke about the importance of philanthropy. Her remarkable achievements have earned her the title of Citywealth Honorary Powerwoman, joining a long list of outstanding women recognised for their contributions to society.
