That’s according to local business Redwood Offshore Limited, the Guernsey Arts Commission and charity GROW Limited.
The three organisations have teamed up to offer local children the opportunity to make Christmas as colourful as possible by designing a Christmas card for Redwood, one of the Channel Islands’ leading compliance support providers. Entry forms are being circulated in local schools, and they can be downloaded from the Redwood website.
One entry will be chosen and used as the design for Redwood’s Christmas cards, which will be sent to all of the business’ clients and contacts. The winning entry will also earn £500 worth of GROW vouchers, which can be used to buy plants and trees, for their school.
The Guernsey Arts Commission will then use a selection of the entries to create a very Christmassy installation at Waitrose Admiral Park to ensure that islanders have a colourful, festive experience as they do their Christmas shop.
Chief executive of Redwood, James Wood, said: “As a Channel Island based business with local staff, directors and shareholders, we are rooted in the Island’ communities. We wanted to make sure our Christmas card was as bright and colourful as possible so we’ve asked local children to come up with some brilliant designs for us. Children of today are tomorrow’s future and we believe that it is vital that their development is diversified and inclusive. We are very proud to partner with the Guernsey Arts Commission and Grow Limited, organisations which both reflect these values.
“We’ve had a few entries already and some great ideas and artwork. I’m really looking forward to seeing them all!”
Russ Fossey, head of arts development for the Guernsey Arts Commission, said: “Christmas is the perfect time to get crafty and make your own interpretations of Christmas classics. This competition is a great opportunity for local children, and even adults, to have a go at re-imagining what their ideal tree would look like. We’ve been impressed with the entries so far and are looking forward to seeing more.”
