Highvern, as the main sponsors of the Jersey Festival of Words, have launched a postcard design competition for school children, to commemorate its partnership with the five-day literary event.
Children in school years 3-8 can submit a postcard design which celebrates the literary and spoken word, with the chances of winning tickets to the Festival and a literary goodie bag worth £200.
Winning designs will be produced on postcards as part of the Festival and on offer for attendees to post to friends, family and loved ones free of charge at the Festival hub in Howard Davis Park.
Martin Hall, Chief Executive of Highvern, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be supporting the return of such an important cultural event for our community and wanted to play a part in marking the occasion. Since the Festival is all about celebrating words, we thought why not offer people the chance to send a personal message the old-fashioned way!
“Books can be enjoyed at any age and hopefully this competition will provide families with a fun activity, and a way for the Festival to further engage with a young audience.”
Jennifer Bridge said: “This is a lovely initiative; giving children the opportunity to explore their creativity. It will be wonderful for the winners to see their work in print. In an age of emails, there is something very special about receiving a postcard.”
Highvern will be supporting the Jersey Festival of Words as its main sponsor for the next three years, with its employees further donating volunteer time to help construct the Festival hub. Click here for details of the competition.
