Fourteen amazing children, aged between eight and fourteen, who were born premature or sick ran their own relay alongside the challenging Guernsey Marathon to raise funds for the Priaulx Premature Baby Foundation last week.
Team PPBF Preemies were joined by their parents or guardians and each ran between one and three miles.
Jake Hardill, 11, who was born at just 2lb 9oz began the relay with a challenging run up the Val des Terres said; “This brought everyone together, we want to prove that premature babies can grow up and achieve anything they want to.”
The whole team, including the PPBF Founders’ own premature child Seb Priaulx, now 21, joined up to run the last .2miles together in a fast 4 hours 58minutes. It was very emotional all crossing the line together agreed everyone. “They smashed it, we were aiming for six hours and they made it in under five. Their parents were struggling to keep up”; says Jo Hardill, Jake’s Mum who organised the relay.
A special thank you goes to Jo and Guy Hardill for organising, to the Guernsey Marathon team for putting on a great event and allowing the PPBF to take part alongside them, to marathon sponsor Sure Guernsey for the medals and to Printed in Guernsey for the kids t-shirts.
It’s not too late to make a donation to their sponsorship page if you can, to help other families in our community needing support from the PPBF. Thank you to all that have donated so far. Please click: Team PPBF Preemies charity run 3 April 2022 | PPBF (Powered by Donorbox)
