Following the success of his 12 Parish Challenge, which saw him sleeping outside a different parish hall each month in 2023, Sanctuary Trust Chair Tim Ringsdore is set to take on his latest challenge, ‘Tim’s Week Without a Home.’
From 10th to 16th March 2025, Tim will spend a week sleeping outdoors in St. Aubin, a challenge set by Sanctuary Trust residents.
Tim will continue his daily routine, including going to work, while spending his nights sleeping outdoors in St. Aubin. He will also be welcome to share meals with Sanctuary Trust residents, offering him the opportunity to connect with the men the charity supports and better understand the challenges they face.
“This uncomfortable challenge was set by our residents and is about shining a light on the many diverse circumstances that can lead to homelessness,” said Tim. “Whether due to job loss, family breakdown, or bereavement, homelessness can happen to anyone.
“I hope this challenge raises awareness and inspires people to support the vital work of Sanctuary Trust. We are extremely grateful to our fantastic sponsor Jersey Mutual for their continued support, and to Andium Homes who have made a significant donation to my fundraising efforts and have supported Sanctuary Trust for many years.”
Tim has invited individuals to join him for a night during the challenge, and Housing Minister Sam Mézec, Chief of Police Robin Smith and Sanctuary Trust Trustee Martin Rowley are already signed up to take part. The challenge is kindly sponsored by Jersey Mutual.
In addition to raising awareness of homelessness in Jersey, the challenge aims to generate funds to support Sanctuary Trust’s essential services, including its three residential facilities and community outreach program, which offers counselling for current and former residents.
