ChannelIsles.net CEO Dr Nigel Roberts is this week participating in the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number international Policy Forum on internet governance.
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number (ICANN) is the international non-profit organisation, headquartered in Los Angeles, that is responsible for the co-ordination of all the internet names and numbering allocations (IP addresses) and protocol assignments that enable a unified Internet to work world wide.
Dr Roberts founded the .gg and .je addresses in 1996 and is also an early pioneer in the development of computer games. He has been involved with the development of the multistake-holder model of internet governance for over 25 years and previously served a three-year term on ICANN’s Board of Directors.
Dr Roberts said: “Without the important work that ICANN does, the internet would not work in the way we have come to rely upon. I look forward to the discussions with from colleagues from industry and government from around the world in the upcoming week.”
