On the 17th and 18th October, the Channel Islands Coop launched its sustainability blueprint across Guernsey and Jersey, respectively.
The blueprint outlines the strategy being undertaken by the Channel Islands retailer and is outlined as the organisation’s ‘ethical compass’, to do the right thing, work as a reminder of who the local organisation is and the Cooperative heritage, and what it means to be a part of it.
There are four pillars to the strategy, each made up of different aims; Planet, Community, People and Partners, and together they work towards the joint vision of making a real difference to the communities the Channel Islands (CI) Coop serves.
As part of its sustainability framework, the CI Coop also outlines its strategy and aims for partners and suppliers, promoting local sourcing, healthy living, sustainable British/local farming and animal welfare, and continuing to purchase and trade ethically.
Mark Cox, CEO of Channel Islands Co-operative Society, said: “We are delighted to be launching our new sustainability strategy across Jersey and Guernsey. This blueprint is the culmination of an incredible amount of hard work by our team and will work as the guiding force on our sustainability and community mission.
“The two launch events across Guernsey and Jersey this week were a fantastic way for us to introduce this strategy to our members and we’re pleased to have received positive feedback so far. We’re looking forward to putting the strategy into practice and making positive changes for the community, the planet, and the Channel Islands Coop.”
