It’s all change at the Guernsey Chamber of Commerce with the appointment of its new President, Stephen Rouxel, and Vice President, Brooke Kenyon.
Both leaders bring a wealth of business experience and a shared vision for the future of the Chamber and the broader business community.
“Stephen and Brooke are the perfect duo to drive Chamber forward,” says Executive Director, Alice Gill. “Their combined experience in leading financial institutions and growing small businesses, plus their connections and insights are ideal to lead Chamber into the future.”
As Head of Business for HSBC Asset Management, Stephen is uniquely positioned to represent the interests of the financial sector and provide valuable economic insight to the community. His extensive network within the finance industry and the wider business community will be instrumental in guiding Chamber’s strategic initiatives.
Brooke, Co-Owner and Managing Director of communications agency Orchard, has a career steeped in small business and entrepreneurial environments. She is passionate about creating the right conditions for growth and ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
Both leaders are dedicated to advancing the Chamber’s mission with a strategic focus on ‘People and Planet’. Chamber has recently included provisions in the Memorandum that embed a commitment to this, inspired by the B Corp requirements.
Brooke emphasised: “As a working mum, I see a lot of room for improvement in making the workplace more accommodating for working parents. Our island community is packed full of talent, and over the next few years I we can make significant strides in this area.”
Stephen highlighted the need for better and faster political decision making: “We need to steer the island towards more quicker decision-making in Government, especially as we approach the upcoming election. Many in the community feel that the quality of our political decisions could be much better.”
On the environmental front, the new leadership team is committed to sustainability. Brooke has always focused on people and the planet in her communications work, which she plans to continue in her new role. Stephen is committed to making this a key pillar of his presidency.
Chamber’s mission is to help industries identify both opportunities and challenges in transitioning to net-zero emissions, and work with them to navigate these changes.
Under the new leadership the Chamber of Commerce is set to embark on a journey that prioritises the wellbeing of people and the planet. Their combined expertise and dedication promise to bring fresh perspectives and vigorous action to Chamber’s initiatives.
