Cavenwell Group has announced the appointment of Rory Forrest as General Counsel.
Rory (pictured) joins in a fractional capacity, following a period of close collaboration with Cavenwell on a range of strategic legal and governance initiatives. With a background that spans private practice, in-house leadership, and international compliance, Rory brings a wealth of experience advising sophisticated clients on corporate governance, risk management, and regulatory matters.
He is the Founder and Principal of FractionGC, a consultancy providing senior legal support on a flexible basis to financial services organisations. A qualified Jersey Advocate (non-practising), Chartered Governance Professional (ACG), and Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E), Rory most recently served as Chief Legal Officer at Mourant, where he led legal strategy across the group.
In this capacity, Rory will advise Cavenwell on a wide spectrum of legal and regulatory matters, including corporate governance, data protection, and strategic legal risk.
Andrew Horbury, Founder and CEO of Cavenwell Group, commented: “We’re delighted to welcome Rory more formally into the Cavenwell team. He’s already played a key role in helping us shape and strengthen our governance and legal frameworks, and his values, judgement, and commercial mindset are deeply aligned with our entrepreneurial culture.
“At Cavenwell, we’ve always believed that access to outstanding talent shouldn’t be limited by outdated models of working. Partnering with someone of Rory’s calibre through a fractional approach reflects both the stage we’re at and the kind of firm we’re building entrepreneurial, agile, and built for long-term impact.”
Rory Forrest added: “Cavenwell is a firm I’ve enjoyed working alongside for some time now. Their clarity of purpose, focus on execution, and willingness to do things differently make this a particularly exciting partnership. I’m looking forward to contributing more deeply as the firm enters its next phase of growth.”
