Following a rigorous tendering and evaluation process, Caring Cooks has been awarded the contract. The contract for the secondary school meal service at Haute Vallée, Grainville, Les Quennevais, Hautlieu and Victoria College, is initially for three years with a possible two-year extension, dependant on delivery and performance management.
The contract was put out for tender after Jersey Potteries, which has been providing the service for the past ten years, gave notice on the existing contract. The Government of Jersey received four expressions of interest to take over the meal service and two submitted tender returns.
Under the contract Caring Cooks will provide a full meals service – in-line with Government standards for nutritious school meals – for breakfast, break-time snacks and lunch.
The Minister for Education, Senator Tracey Vallois, said: “Jersey Potteries has provided an excellent food service for secondary schools for the past decade. However, following Jersey Potteries decision to give notice on their contract we have now, following a formal tendering process, awarded the contract to Caring Cooks. We look forward to working with Caring Cooks on this venture.”
