Caring Cooks of Jersey, the charity which promotes equal opportunities in healthy eating for children and families in Jersey, has appointed senior funds expert, Michael Johnson, and experienced marketing professional, Debbie Cornish, to the Board.
Michael, who is Head of Funds at a global fiduciary business in the Channel Islands and also a committee member of the Jersey Funds Association, has a particular interest in helping families in need by bridging the gap between governmental provision and private enterprise. He has experience in the charity sector, having been a trustee for a UK charity when living in London which focused on creating opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Debbie has over 20 years of marketing experience and runs her own marketing and product development consultancy. As a trustee and director on the Caring Cooks Board, she will focus on the charity’s fundraising strategy, profile raising at both a corporate and public level and on achieving diversified channels of income for the charity.
In their spare time, Michael enjoys island life with his two daughters and two sons and Debbie enjoys being home and travelling with her children, husband and dog, as well as horse-riding and doing Pilates whenever she can.
Melissa Nobrega, Chief Executive, Caring Cooks of Jersey commented:
“I am very pleased to introduce both Michael and Debbie to the Caring Cooks Board. Their respective experience and expertise will be integral to the charity as we look to develop and enhance our offering for the Island, particularly the nutritional education programmes we run with local schools.
“Jersey’s children are its future and it is so important that they get the best start in life, which fundamentally begins with a balanced and healthy diet.”
