Carey Olsen’s annual Jersey charity quiz night and raffle has raised £12,700 in support of the team’s two chosen charities: Grace Trust and Dementia Jersey.
The inaugural Jersey charity quiz was held in 2014 and has grown year on year, raising more than £100,000 in total for local charities. The 2023 event was hosted at the Merton Hotel and saw over 50 teams participate from 33 island-wide firms.
This year, a team from Barclays named ‘Where Eagles Dare’ won first place following a series of challenging and interactive rounds. The Government of Jersey’s ‘Broad Street Brainiacs’ came in second place and Entrust’s ‘Entrust Your Braincells’ completed the top three highest scoring teams.
Carey Olsen’s Jersey office charities were selected at the beginning of 2023 and will benefit from a two-year fundraising period. Dementia Jersey provides support and educational services to anyone living with or affected by dementia. The firm’s second chosen charity, Grace Trust, works with the poor and needy in Jersey, and provides support to those that may be struggling with loneliness, addiction, separation and low self-esteem.
Victoria Connolly (pictured), counsel at Carey Olsen and chair of the Jersey Charities Committee said: “Carey Olsen’s Jersey charity quiz night is one of our largest fundraisers, and we are thrilled to have kickstarted the fundraising for our newly chosen charities with such a successful event.
We are hugely grateful to all the teams who attended for their generosity, to our raffle prize donors, volunteers and our fantastic quiz master Nick Carver and compere Charlie McCardle for supporting our 2023 charity quiz night.”
