Carey Olsen has been ranked as a leading law firm in the Channel Islands after securing 18 top-tier rankings in the latest edition of The Legal 500 UK – four more than its nearest competitor.
A leading industry guide, The Legal 500 ranks law firms following a thorough and independent research process, which includes interviews with clients and peers as well as information provided by the firms themselves.
The 2022 edition sees the firm ranked in Tier One for nine practice areas in both Guernsey and Jersey.
15 of the firm’s lawyers feature in the Legal 500 Hall of Fame, which is reserved for law firm partners who are at the pinnacle of the profession and have received constant praise by their clients for continued excellence. In addition, 22 of the firm’s lawyers are recognised as ‘leading individuals’, while five are regarded as ‘next generation partners’ and a further 18 as ‘rising stars’.
Highlights from this year’s research include industry sources describing Carey Olsen’s Guernsey office as ‘having a shine to them that stands out in their sector’, while another said the firm had ‘the gravitas and experience that make them the advocates I would recommend above all others on the island’.
The Jersey office is praised for having ‘close ties with international law firms and a reputation for supporting complex cross-border transactions’ as well as for its ‘cutting-edge legal advice which is always available at the shortest of notice to assist on the most complicated of matters’. The London office provides ‘excellent service to clients’ and is ‘staffed with lawyers with significant offshore and onshore private practice experience’.
Carey Olsen group managing partner Alex Ohlsson (pictured) said: “Maintaining our position as the leading offshore firm in the Channel Islands in The Legal 500 UK rankings is testament to the depth and breadth of expertise we possess in our practice areas and the high levels of service we deliver across our offices in Guernsey, Jersey and London.
