Carey Olsen’s corporate team has acted as lead counsel in advising equity holding company Octane on the sale of Jacksons Group to Dutch company Van Mossel Automotive Group.
Jacksons is a premier car dealership based across Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man and the Isle of Wight that employs 500 staff, all of whom are being retained to support the future growth strategy of Van Mossel.
For Van Mossel, the acquisition will facilitate an expansion into the locations listed above and include several additions to its current portfolio.
The Carey Olsen Jersey team advising Octane on all M&A aspects of the deal was led by partner James Willmott (pictured) and senior associate Steven Khan, with support from associate Tsakani Kona and trainee Zoe Salisbury. Partner Guy Coltman and associate Tim McAlpine Scott provided advice to the Jacksons management team.
The cross-practice team in Jersey and Guernsey was led by partners Will Whitehead, Chris Philpott and senior associate Lyndsay Houlette (Jersey property), partner Jason Morgan and senior associate Rachel Jones (Guernsey property), alongside partner Tony Lane with assistance from senior associates James Cooke and Arya Hashemi (Guernsey corporate), associates Nick Branch and Daniel Long (Guernsey corporate) and partner Robin Smith and counsel Fiona Dalton with assistance from associate Dan Huxham (Jersey banking and finance).
James Willmott commented: “We are pleased to have been able to represent Octane on this transaction, which demonstrates the strength and depth of our offering across the Channel Islands. It was great to work with them once again, having previously advised on the sale of Jacksons to Octane in 2014.”
Edward Adamson and Wendy Tsang of Lester Aldridge acted as UK counsel for the deal and Will Margot, Vicci Laslett and Sally Cranshaw of Keystone Law acted as Isle of Man counsel.
