Carey Olsen has advised Channel Islands Co-op on the acquisition of seven Lloyds Pharmacy branches across Jersey and Guernsey.
The acquisition is a significant milestone in the Co-op’s expansion within the pharmacy sector.
The Co-op has bought four stores in Jersey (The Parade, Red Houses, Quennevais and Gorey Village), and three in Guernsey (St Sampson’s, L’Aumone and Longfrie).
The purchase of the stores will enable the Co-op to grow and develop its pharmacy business, whilst providing Co-op customers across the Channel Islands with greater access to its community pharmacy services. As part of the transaction, the Co-op offered roles to all existing Lloyds staff to ensure a smooth transition and to maintain the high level of service that both businesses are renowned for.
The legal team advising Co-op was led by Jersey corporate partner James Willmott (pictured) and associate Anna Mouat, assisted by Guernsey corporate partner Tony Lane and senior associates Arya Hashemi and Jessica Dewsnip. Partner Will Whitehead and senior associate Lyndsay Houlette assisted on Jersey property matters, senior associate Rachel Jones on Guernsey property matters and counsel Tarina Le Boutillier on employment matters.
