Group Risk Manager

Our client is looking for an experienced and dynamic Group Risk Manager to join their team. This pivotal role involves maintaining and advancing the Risk Management Framework (RMF), supporting a strong risk culture, and providing critical insights into risk analysis and reporting.

The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the organization while ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities:

Risk Management Framework (RMF):

  • Contribute to the maintenance, enhancement, and integration of the RMF, risk appetite, and associated policies, processes, procedures, and methodologies.
  • Drive an effective risk culture throughout the organization, including delivering risk education, training, awareness programs, and guidance.
  • Perform risk assurance testing in alignment with agreed-upon, risk-based plans.
  • Conduct deep-dive investigations into specific risks and issues, ensuring all findings are documented, tracked, and reported appropriately.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of risk data in systems such as OSX, including incidents, issues, actions, and Risk & Control Assessments (RCAs).
  • Monitor and review 1st line RCAs, challenging anomalous results and inconsistencies with other risk-related data like KRIs and incidents.
  • Provide oversight for third-party risk management processes.

Risk and Controls Advisory:

  • Support 1st line of defence colleagues while maintaining the objectivity and integrity expected of the 2nd line of defence.
  • Participate in committees and working groups, offering insights and sharing best practices from a risk and control perspective.
  • Proactively identify and manage new and emerging risks and themes, ensuring they are effectively addressed.

Risk Analysis and Reporting:

  • Perform risk analysis, including root cause analysis, scenario analysis, stress testing, and identification of themes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and develop internal and external data feeds, including Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and horizon scanning, delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders.
  • Aggregate and consolidate data from multiple sources, providing comprehensive risk assessments in partnership with Compliance and Risk teams.
  • Deliver impactful risk reporting to governance bodies such as the Board and Executive Risk Committee, as well as business units and functions.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Proven experience in risk management, preferably in a group or corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of RMF principles, risk appetite, and risk-related policies and methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear insights and recommendations.
  • Familiarity with risk management tools, software, and reporting systems such as OSX.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and risk mitigation.
