Data Analyst
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Data Analyst to join our IT department, focusing on Analysis and Reporting. The successful candidate will be responsible for building data models, documenting business information, and enhancing data presentation tools to provide valuable Management Information (MI) and support other systems.
Key accountabilities
Data Management and Modelling:
- Own and progress the building of data models based on business data to provide MI and data to other systems.
- Consistently document and categorise business information held within key systems.
- Identify and evaluate business data opportunities and needs.
- Enhance data presentation and MI tools.
- Identify, assess, and deliver data modelling and presentation solutions to meet business requirements.
Liaise with third-party providers and consultants where appropriate.
- Collaboration and Solution Delivery:
- Work with different teams across the business to identify key business data and how it can be used to add value.
- Capture and document essential data locations and aspects.
- Monitor, evaluate, and prioritise business management information and data modelling needs.
- Analyse and identify potential solutions to meet business requirements.
- Develop, document, and maintain data models.
- Present options to key stakeholders and the management team.
- Manage the delivery of selected solutions, working closely with core stakeholders.
Accountability and Efficiency:
- Understand data dependencies and considerations to add value.
- Manage competing priorities across the business.
- Deliver key elements within predefined timescales while retaining flexibility.
- Manage relationships with third-party consultants and suppliers.
- Promote efficiency and a high-performance culture.
Requirements
- Strong grades at GCSE/A Level.
- Data science, modelling, or MI-related qualifications or training.
- Understanding of T-SQL data queries and aggregation techniques.
- Database modelling skills using tools like Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI, Tableau.
- Good knowledge of Excel.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Knowledge of relational databases, data normalisation, and modelling techniques.
- 1-3+ years of experience with relational databases (e.g., MS SQL Server).
- 1-3+ years of experience in data analysis, modelling, or business analysis.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Degree level education or equivalent experience.
- Membership of applicable professional institutions.
- Business Analyst qualifications (e.g., BCS Business Analyst Certificates).
