If you have not yet signed up for this year’s Saffery Rotary Walk, there is still time.
However, walkers wishing to participate in support of 21 local charities are encouraged to act fast to secure their spot for Walk day. The Walk, set to take place on Saturday 8 June, welcomes islanders of all ages and abilities to take part.
Walkers are encouraged to register before midnight on Friday 31 May to benefit from a standard registration fee. Latecomers can still register via the Saffery Rotary Walk website until noon on Friday 7 June, however, registration prices will increase from Saturday 1 May onwards.
For those registering after Tuesday 4 June, you will need to collect your walker pack at the start line at the Tourist Information Centre on Saturday 8 June at 4.30am.
Saffery Trust Director, Lisa Vizia, said: “Whether you are an avid walker who has not yet had the chance to register, or perhaps you have considered participating in the Saffery Rotary Walk for a number of years, now is the time to take the leap and give the challenge a go.”
Lisa continued: “We hope to see walkers using and enjoying our Saffery Selfie filter on the day of the Walk. Sharing your creative selfies on social media using the #safferyselfie will give walkers a chance at winning a new Apple watch series 9! We love seeing everyone taking part and sharing their experiences as they take on the 39 mile route.”
Walk chairman, Simon Milsted, shared: “The support we have received during the duration of the Walk has been overwhelming and we hope this year will be no different.
“As one of the landmark community events in Guernsey, the Saffery Rotary Walk afford islanders the opportunity to experience our island’s breath-taking coastal views.”
Simon continued: “A large portion of the money raised for the Walk is generated through the sponsorship raised by our walkers. So, even if you are not taking part yourself, please show your support for anyone you know is taking part by sponsoring them ahead of this year’s Walk. And if any of our walkers pass you by on Walk day, be sure to show your support by cheering them on.”
