C5 Alliance, part of BDO Group, has developed an app that is being used to manage the logistics of organising and running the Lion’s Swimarathon event.
Damon Greber, Head of Advisory Services at BDO and a member of this year’s Lions Club of Jersey organising committee, explained to Channel Eye: “Following the cancellation of last year’s event, our aim was to provide technology support to The Lions Club of Jersey to assist them in delivering this important community event and raising as much money as possible for local beneficiaries. The pandemic has been a tough time for our community, including for charities that rely on fundraising support to provide their vital services.
“The Swimarathon will give people an opportunity to come together, to have fun and to support some of these local charities. The Swimarathon theme this year is ‘Helping Teenagers Thrive’, and as an organising committee we hope that nearly 4,000 people will swim across the five days. I am very proud to be involved with The Lions Club of Jersey and with this event, and I am thrilled that BDO Group were able to assist; we look forward to seeing how much money can be raised this year.”
The Lion’s Swimarathon, sponsored by Ravenscroft, is an annual five-day swimming event and is the longest running community fundraiser in Jersey. This year the event is taking place on 3rd to 7th July 2021 at Les Quennevais Sports Centre. The theme for the event is ‘Helping Teenagers Thrive’ and will support five local charities being Brighter Futures, Brightly, Jersey Youth Trust, Teenage Cancer Trust and YouMatter.
