Butterfield is sponsoring the Jersey Symphony Orchestra’s annual Christmas concert for a second year. The concert will take place at 8:00 p.m. on 15 December 2019 at the Fort Regent Leisure Centre.
The festive programme will serve up a fabulous helping of favourite carols and popular classics together with mince pies and mulled wine in the interval.
Starting with Prokofiev’s Lieutenant Kije, written as an accompaniment to one of the earliest sound films made in the Soviet Union, the programme also includes Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture and Quidditch by John Williams. The orchestra will be conducted by Andrew Morley and led by Martin Smith, with a soloist saxophone performance from Rob Burton, winner of the Woodwind Category of the BBC’s Young Musician of 2018. The Beaulieu Convent School Chamber Choir directed by G. M. Donoghue will also join the orchestra.
The Jersey Symphony Orchestra is a true community orchestra, devoted to the needs of local players, audiences and the promotion of orchestral music for everybody on the island.
Managing Director at Butterfield, Noel McLaughlin said: “The Christmas concert is a wonderful event and we are pleased to support the arts through our sponsorship of this delightful performance. The orchestra is much-loved within the community, providing musicians with the opportunity to showcase their talents and, more importantly, to share the fun and Christmas spirit at this special time of year.”
* Tickets cost from £15.00 and are available on-line from eventbrite.co.uk or from the Fort Regent Box Office.
