Butterfield has appointed Richard Saunders as Managing Director of Jersey in addition to his current role as Managing Director of the Channel Islands & UK and member of Butterfield’s Executive Committee. Alan Bain has been promoted to Managing Director of Guernsey.
Mr Saunders, who served as Managing Director of Guernsey since 2015, takes over responsibility for Jersey from Noel McLaughlin. Alan Bain, who has served as Chief Financial Officer in Guernsey since 2016, assumes the role of Managing Director of Guernsey. Maria Moore has been appointed as Head of Finance, Banking for the Channel Islands & UK.

We thank Noel for his leadership over the past years and his support in growing Jersey from three employees to team of more than 40.”
Richard Saunders has more than two decades’ experience in the financial services industry.
Previously, Mr. Saunders was Butterfield’s Head of European Asset Management and prior to that spent seven years dealing with private client investments at RBC. Mr. Saunders is a Chartered Member of the London-based Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.
Alan Bain joined Butterfield in 2007 having worked in senior management roles at major financial institutions in the UK and Channel Islands, including Lloyds TSB, Deutsche Bank and Standard Life.
Mr. Bain is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and recently completed the IoD Diploma in Company Direction.
Maria Moore, who joined the company earlier this year as Head of Finance in Jersey, is a member of Butterfield Bank (Jersey) Limited’s Executive Committee. She has worked in the finance industry for nearly twenty years, starting her career in Jersey with Lloyds Bank before moving to RBC International Wealth Management. She qualified for the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation in 2009.
