A leading nursery group in Jersey has strengthened its team with the appointment of a new Area Director. New member of the team, Rob Crawford, has joined Busy Bees and will be overseeing the childcare providers newly acquired nurseries as it expands its offering in Jersey. With more than 370 nurseries in the UK and Ireland, and a further 270 across the globe, the childcare group brings a wealth of early years expertise to the island. The appointment marks the beginning of significant investment from Busy Bees focused on the staff team and enhancing the learning environments for the children in its care. Rob Crawford has more than 18 years’ experience in the education sector, and began his career working as a play-worker at Centre Point Trust. He quickly worked his way up and was made Head of Playcare in 2012, and Deputy CEO in 2015. With qualifications in chartered management, team leadership and forest schools, Rob was also one of the pioneers of the ‘Jersey for Playwork’ initiative, and has helped to set up a brand-new nursery and baby unit at Centre Point Trust, which was fully occupied just one year after opening. Rob’s key responsibilities in his new role will include overseeing Organic Kids (OK) La Providence and Castle Quay, which are scheduled to be rebranded by Busy Bees in the coming months. He will ensure that the children at the nurseries receive rich learning experiences and quality care, all whilst embedding a positive work environment for his team which will ultimately help give children the best possible start in life. Rob will play a pivotal part in Busy Bees’ future in Jersey, as the nursery group looks for more opportunities on the island to grow its presence and raise standards. Rob commented: “I’m incredibly invested in improving the educational offering in Jersey, and am thrilled to be joining Busy Bees. My new role supporting and advancing Busy Bees nurseries in Jersey will give me the opportunity to put my skill set to good use – it’s fantastic to be joining such a warm and well-regarded team. “Now, more than ever, we need to continue to work to ensure local children are given the best start in life. The values of Busy Bees align with mine, and it gives me great satisfaction to know I will be helping to give the children of Jersey the highest quality education and care. I’m looking forward to being part of a growing team and working in an industry where I can see my career, my team and the nurseries I support growing and progressing". Cheryl Creaser, UK and Europe CEO at Busy Bees, said: “Rob joins us at a crucial point as we grow our offering in Jersey, and also at a time when the focus on education is increasingly prominent due to impact COVID-19 has had on many children. “The new acquisitions are a fantastic opportunity to bring our years of expertise and experience to such a prestigious island, and we’re delighted to have Rob, who has played such a huge role in the progression of early years facilities in Jersey, on board to support us on this exciting journey. One of our key values at Busy Bees is nurturing talent and finding the best possible people for our families, and this means developing those with passion for the sector. Rob’s experience in this industry speaks for itself, and we are thrilled to welcome him to our growing team". The Organic Kids (OK) nurseries in Jersey, which are now part of the Busy Bees family, promote the development of creativity, individuality and self-confidence in each child, and works in partnership with parents to provide the highest standard of nursery care.
