Brittany Ferries’ vessel brings a flavour of Guernsey to visitors

Brittany Feries - On board the Islander.

British and French tourists can enjoy a little of the Bailiwick before they even arrive, travelling aboard Islander from Portsmouth and St Malo.

Following her return to service in late March, Brittany Ferries’ conventional vessel has undergone a cultural refresh. Her 11 superior and luxury cabins have been named after iconic locations across the Islands, including St Peter Port, Fort Hommet, Fermain Bay, Hauteville House, Shell Beach, La Coupée and Longis Bay in Alderney.

An explanatory poster has been installed in each cabin whilst a new, visual map in the main concourse directs passengers to their themed quarters.

Joëlle Croc, Director Customer Experience and Onboard Sales, at Brittany Ferries, said: “In keeping with all Brittany Ferries’ vessels, Islander now embodies the region from which she takes her name, reflecting images from Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm as well as bringing to life the identity and personality of the modern-day Islands.

“We worked closely with the team at Visit Guernsey on this project and this is part of our wider commitment to improving the passenger experience, focussing on reliability, comfort, hospitality and value.”

Zoe Gosling, Lead Marketing Officer, States of Guernsey, commented: “We’re delighted to have worked with Brittany Ferries to bring Guernsey’s character to life
on board Islander. These new touches give travellers a real sense of our five islands from the moment they set off. It’s a fantastic way to promote the Bailiwick and make the journey part of the overall experience.”

Mme Croc added: “My role is to lead the evolution of the customer experience onboard and also in the ports we serve. It’s been a pleasure to start shaping Islander to reflect the charm of the beautiful Bailiwick of Guernsey – an exciting journey in itself. We’re really looking forward to capturing and sharing the spirit of the Islands with our passengers.”
