Six colleagues from Blick Rothenberg took on a 50-mile Jersey Walk to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and The Connection at St Martin’s, a charity for the homeless.
Andy Sanford, Heather Powell, Paul Haywood-Schiefer, Katharine Campbell, Darsh Shah and Dharma-Dav Morzaria walked along the Jersey coastline to raise money in memory of two former colleagues; Linda Bute and Mike Scoltock who both passed away from cancer and participated in the first Blick Rothenberg Jersey Walk fifteen years ago.
Heather Powell, Head of Property at the firm said: “On Friday 13th, after a hearty lunch, we began our adventure from Gorey on the East Coast. Despite the date, luck was on our side; the weather was beautiful, and the coastal views were Mediterranean. With cliffs, sandy beaches, and turquoise waters it was hard to believe we were technically still in Britain.”
She added: “The views were a welcome distraction from the aches and pains that slowly began to creep up on us. As the going got tough we all motored on, buoyed on by the support of colleagues and friends who had all made generous donations.”
Heather said: “The next two days were fuelled by a dangerous mix of diet coke and painkillers, but it was the great company and conversation of what some would class as six misfits that kept us going! As we left the gruelling cliffs and bays behind, we were welcomed by postcard-worthy beaches and the end slowly edged into sight.”
She added: “When we reached Gorey castle, a sense of accomplishment rang through the six of us, weary and dishevelled we were looking forward to some rest.”
Heather said: “We are beyond grateful for everyone’s generosity and thanks to 300 plus donations have been able to raise over £10,000 for two amazing causes. Blick Rothenberg will also make an additional contribution as part of our continued support of The Connection as BR’s firm charity of the year.”
