Black Vanilla has achieved the Public Relations and Communications Association Communications Management Standard for the second time.
The agency is unique in the Crown Dependencies for holding this accreditation, which is known as the ‘hallmark of PR excellence’ and is repeated annually.
The Communications Management Standard (CMS) combines elements of ISO9001 and Investors in People, with criteria specific to a PR and communications consultancy.
Consultancies are scored on nine core areas including leadership and communication, business planning, business improvement, financial management and systems, campaign management, client satisfaction, new business, people management and diversity.
The CMS assessor remarked: ‘“Congratulations to Black Vanilla for achieving re-accreditation with CMS for the second consecutive year. The evaluation revealed an outstanding performance across all areas assessed. In terms of diversity, Black Vanilla presented a comprehensive policy showcasing a dedicated commitment to a fair recruitment process. The emphasis was on assessing candidates based on their abilities, ensuring equal opportunities for all to contribute to the Agency’s endeavours, and fostering a work environment free from harassment.
“Regarding client management, the evidence centred on client feedback. Black Vanilla has implemented a systematic process that involves addressing both positive and negative feedback. This serves as an opportunity for the team to integrate best practices and proactively address any minor issues before they escalate.
“Finally, Black Vanilla has a robust business lead process in place that comprehensively covers all potential scenarios. This process is diligently shared with the team, reinforcing effective communication and preparedness for various situations.”
The accreditation offers clients and suppliers proof that the agency is a well-run business with all the correct systems and structures in place. Clients have peace of mind that they are buying a professional service from a PR and communications company that is committed to excellence. It also demonstrates to staff that the business has a genuine commitment to their development.
Nichole Culverwell (pictured), Black Vanilla’s Agency Director said: “We have maintained all of the policies and best practice required to pass the CMS throughout 2023. Benchmarking, client satisfaction surveys, internal policies and campaign management frameworks all strengthen Black Vanilla’s approach to meeting our clients’ needs.
“Passing the CMS again this year is an ongoing collective effort and an endorsement of our client service, first-class campaign delivery and our commitment to developing the skills of our team.”
