Six partners from Carey Olsen’s Guernsey and Jersey offices have been recognised in the 2022 edition of The Best Lawyers in the United Kingdom.
Among those recognised, Ben Morgan, head of the firm’s corporate practice in Guernsey, was also named ‘Lawyer of the Year for Investment Funds in Guernsey’ – an additional accolade for those individuals with the highest overall peer feedback for a specific practice area and geographic region.
Recognition by Best Lawyers, which publishes highly regarded guides to the legal profession in 76 countries, is based entirely on peer review. The methodology is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the outstanding individuals from within the same geographic region and legal practice area by conducting exhaustive peer review surveys in which tens of thousands of leading lawyers confidentially evaluate their professional peers.
Commenting on his individual recognition, Ben Morgan (shown in the main picture of this article) said: “I’m extremely honoured to have been recognised by Best Lawyers for both mine and the firm’s investment funds work. Individual recognition like this is testament to the hard work and dedication of the wider Guernsey corporate team which continues to go from strength to strength and has impressively increased its market share within the investment funds sector locally.”
Ben, who was also recognised for corporate finance law, was one of four Carey Olsen Guernsey partners named by Best Lawyers. Corporate partners Christopher Anderson and Andrew Boyce gained recognition for insurance law and investment funds respectively, while Russell Clark, head of the trusts and private wealth team in Guernsey, was named among the best for trusts and personal tax law.
In Jersey, group managing partner Alex Ohlsson is named among the best for three practice areas: corporate finance law, real estate finance and securitisation law. John Kelleher of the Jersey dispute resolution and litigation team is recognised for both his litigation and real estate law expertise.
