Eleanor Clarke and Olivia Shaxson are the latest students to join Bedell Cristin’s English Solicitor trainee scheme in Jersey.
Eleanor (pictured) and OIivia have begun the two-year programme, which sees them rotate around the firm’s legal practice groups before qualifying as Solicitors of England & Wales via the SQE exam system.
Eleanor studied at Pembroke College, Oxford, and University College London, after completing her A Levels at Jersey College for Girls, and has been working as an administrative officer at the University of London Institute in Paris.
Olivia studied at the University of Sussex, after completing her A Levels at Hautlieu in Jersey, and has recently completed a Master of Arts in Law from the University of Law.
There are eight practising lawyers at Bedell Cristin across the firm’s Jersey, Guernsey, Cayman Islands, BVI and London offices who qualified through the firm’s regional training schemes, and a further six trainees currently training with the firm.
Bedell Cristin also has a long-running legal bursary scheme supporting legal students in their studies and development.
Training principal and Head of Corporate Law in Jersey, Guy Westmacott, said: “The young lawyers taking part in our training scheme are having a real impact in their respective practice groups, and are a genuine asset to our business.
“Our programme gives trainees an excellent start to life as a lawyer, providing opportunities to get involved in client care, research and business development, as well as working day-to-day on transactions, advisory matters and disputes.
“We’re delighted to welcome Eleanor and Olivia onboard and we look forward to supporting their development.”
