With just over 50 days until the highly anticipated Durrell Challenge, there has never been a better time to enter. Durrell have announced the chance to win a VIP experience at Jersey Zoo, for anyone that signs up ahead of 31 March.
The event, which is kindly sponsored by Butterfield and organised with 3D Events, is taking part on 14 May this year and consists of a 13k and 2.6k here in Jersey, with runners also able to undertake a 13k virtually. It also has a tort-ally terrific Tortoise and Hare theme to celebrate the Tortoise Takeover ar trail, which is coming to Jersey this summer.
Prizes for runners that sign up ahead of 31 March and that take part in Jersey include a meerkat experience for four worth £240, a Jersey Zoo membership for one year and a VIP tour at Jersey Zoo.
Conservation heroes
In addition to prizes for those that sign up early, Durrell are also offering unique experiences for “conservation heroes.” To thank all runners that take part in Jersey and fundraise £300 or more, they’re offering an exclusive Night Safari at Jersey Zoo. Here the runner and a guest will be invited to the zoo to learn from their keepers about the animals that come out at night and enjoy the wonders of our grounds at dusk.
The Virtual runners that raise over £300 will also get access to an exclusive virtual behind-the-scenes experience as a special thank you.
Commenting on the Challenge, Events Manager, Zoe Le Var commented: “The Durrell Challenge is a key event in our fundraising calendar, helping to support our work at our rewilding sites in Jersey and across the world, whilst also reconnecting people to nature. We are so grateful for the support we receive for this annual fun-run and wanted to say thank you for all the dedicated runners and fundraisers that take part each year. This is our first Night Safari at Jersey Zoo and it is going to be a special experience for our fantastic fundraisers.”
Runners of all abilities are encouraged to take part and help raise vital funds for the charity’s work saving the world’s most precious wildlife around the world. To find out more information click here.
