Aurigny has further strengthened its ATR 72-600 fleet with the arrival of a fourth ATR, delivered by Jetstream, a Miami-based aircraft lessor.
Aurigny CEO, Nico Bezuidenhout (pictured), said: “Welcoming the fourth ATR to Aurigny’s fleet is a positive step toward providing our customers with the most resilient and reliable service possible. The aircraft type is a known quantity to Aurigny and, opting to lease rather than own this aircraft, the airline achieves a better mix between owned and leased assets, as called for by our shareholder-approved strategy. We also look forward to fostering a strong relationship with Jetstream, an established lessor with an existing presence within the UK and US regional aviation markets.”
The aircraft, following a safety inspection required by the UK Civil Aviation Authority for all new fleet additions and which will be done during the remainder of this month, will be registered as G-PEMB in honour of Guernsey’s Pembroke beach, and will join the existing Aurigny ATR fleet, G-ORAI, named after Guernsey Raiders, G-OGFC named after Guernsey Football club and G-OATR the first new ATR received.
The aircraft is 10 years old, roughly half the average age of the Airbus A319 fleet in use by a prominent UK low-cost carrier and will initially be operated in a red and white colour scheme to expedite entry into service, before Aurigny’s livery is applied during this coming winter.
