Advocate Corbett has announced that Jamie-Lee Morgan has joined the family law firm Corbett Le Quesne as an Associate Solicitor.
Jamie-Lee (pictured) joined the firm shortly before being sworn in as a Jersey Solicitor, also known as an Écrivain in Jersey.
As a Solicitor, Jamie-Lee can appear before the Family Court in all areas of family law. She hopes to be sworn in as an Advocate following successful completion of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination in England and Wales, which she is currently undertaking.
Before joining Corbett Le Quesne, Jamie-Lee worked at two local firms and in 2021 moved to Cumbria where she gained invaluable experience at one of the largest law firms in the North of England. She was fortunate enough to be present for the introduction of the new no-fault divorce law in England and Wales and witness its positive effect on encouraging an amicable approach to divorce as opposed to the ‘blame game’ approach that still exists in Jersey law. Jamie-Lee is extremely keen for a similar reform to take place in Jersey divorce law.
Jamie-Lee has spent almost 10 years working in the area of family law. She is also a member of Resolution which means that she is committed to promoting a constructive approach to family issues.
Advocate Corbett commented: “I first recruited Jamie-Lee as a Receptionist in 2011 when I was a partner at another law firm. Nick Le Quesne joined and we all worked together for many years. I am so happy that Jamie-Lee is able to join us, it feels like the team is back together!”
Advocate Le Quesne added: “Before taking her Jersey exams, Jamie-Lee gained a paralegal qualification with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and went on to obtain a degree in Law from Nottingham Trent University, all whilst working full-time. She is now studying towards qualifying as an English Solicitor which shows how hard working and determined Jamie-Lee is.”
