Law firm Appleby has welcomed Shelley de Klerk to their Guernsey team.
Shelley (pictured) is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution department. Shelley was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in February 2020, having trained at one of South Africa’s oldest and well-respected litigation law firms. Shelley has worked on a wide variety of commercial disputes including matters of administrative, commercial, insolvency, banking, pension, estates law.
Prior to joining Appleby, Shelley focused on data protection, commercial contracting and TMT law. She has supported some of the world’s largest multinational companies, including fast consumer goods companies, technology enterprises, broadcasters, media houses, state owned enterprises, hospitality giants and banks.
In the context of data protection, Shelley has advised on and overseen the implementation of data protection programmes and negotiated data processing agreements for some of the world’s most recognised brands.
Shelley has worked on secondment as an in-house counsel for one of the world’s largest multimedia corporations and prior to her legal career, obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies, which she utilised working internationally in the engineering and mining industries. Shelley has also served as an assistant for the Acta Juridica law journal and as a teaching assistant in construction law at the University of Cape Town.
