Appleby has partnered with Mental Health organisation ‘Man Club Jersey’ and coffee shop Bean Around The World to offer local residents a free coffee on Blue Monday, 17th January 2022.
The third Monday in January is known as ‘Blue Monday: the gloomiest day of the year’ following the Christmas and New Year celebratory period. This year, Blue Monday falls on 17th January 2022.
The #ThanksAppleby campaign will highlight the importance of taking time out, just to talk, by encouraging the community to grab a coffee with someone this Blue Monday, or indeed any day next week. This is the fifth year Appleby Jersey have run this campaign, during lockdown last year they donated their Blue Monday coffees to the States of Jersey team at the vaccination centre, whilst Jersey’s vaccination programme was in its infancy.
This year, Appleby has chosen to partner with Man Club Jersey, a local Mental Health organisation and “a place for men to just talk, listen or be heard.” Appleby previously hosted Matt Falla, Founder of Man Club in Jersey, as part of their panel event entitled “Breaking Free and Wellbeing – a Gender issue” on International Men’s Day in November last year, in partnership with HSBC. Hugo Forrester from MIND Jersey also contributed as part of the event panel.
The campaign works as follows:
- Visit Bean Around the World coffee shop w/c Monday 17 January and grab a coffee and a chat with someone.
- Say #ThanksAppleby to receive your free coffee.
- If you would like, take a photo of you having your complimentary coffee, then post on social media with the hashtag: #ThanksAppleby.
A member of the Man Club Team will be available throughout Monday 17th January if you would like to share a coffee and a chat with them.
James Gaudin, Appleby Managing Partner in Jersey said: “It is so important that we focus on our wellbeing and that of others. Each year, Appleby in Jersey host a Blue Monday campaign to prompt our colleagues, clients and community to take time for a coffee, a conversation or time away from the screen or desk. The last nearly two years of the pandemic have brought into focus the need to communicate and to look out for each other. We are delighted to continue to partner with Matt and Man Club on these important initiatives.”
Mind Jersey believes no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. Please contact mind if you need someone to talk to: https://www.mindjersey.org/. Alternatively, Man Club Jersey can be contacted via the following Facebook link: https://www.facebook.com/manclubjersey/
