Global law firm Appleby has announced that lawyer Paul Worsnop has been promoted to the role of counsel in its corporate team in Jersey.
Paul (pictured), who is promoted from senior associate, has a broad practice and advises on all aspects of corporate and finance transactions with a particular emphasis on debt and equity capital markets, structured finance, funds and technology. He has worked at Appleby Jersey since 2016 and was sworn in as a Jersey advocate in 2021.
Paul said: “I am thrilled with my new position at Appleby Jersey and look forward to developing my practice and working with the firm’s world-class team of lawyers.”
James Gaudin, Managing Partner at Appleby Jersey, highlighted the wealth of experience Paul has and said the whole team is delighted about the promotion. “We are incredibly proud of Paul and look forward to his future successes and contributions to Appleby Jersey.”
Paul’s recent work highlights include leading the Jersey structured finance team on CLO transactions with an aggregate value of USD9 billion in 2022 alone for established clients and leading US sponsors and acting as Fund Counsel to Heligan Investments on the launch of their first fund, Heligan Private Equity I, which focusses on high growth technology companies in the National Security, Crime Prevention and Public Safety sectors.
Paul is also involved with several industry working groups on the Island looking at areas including capital markets, the implementation and regulation of Fintech in Jersey, the AML/KYC regime and legal reform.
He is one of 12 senior promotions at Partner and Counsel level across Appleby’s Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Jersey and Mauritius offices.
