Offshore law firm Appleby has announced that Paul Worsnop and Johanna Murphy from the Group’s Jersey office have been promoted to partner and counsel respectively.
A member of the Corporate practice since 2016, Paul (pictured) has a broad practice and advises on all aspects of corporate and finance transactions with a particular emphasis on debt and equity capital markets, structured finance, funds and technology. Paul, who was sworn in as an Advocate of the Royal Court of Jersey in January 2021, is also regularly involved with industry working groups focusing on areas such as capital markets, the implementation and regulation of fintech in Jersey, the AML/KYC regime and legal reform.
Johanna joined Appleby in 2022 and advises clients on a broad range of corporate finance and general corporate matters in both Jersey and British Virgin Islands law, regularly providing real estate finance, fund finance, debt restructuring and regulatory advice to leading financial institutions and corporate borrowers.
Appleby Group Managing Partner Malcolm Moller said: “Paul and Johanna are extremely accomplished lawyers and I would like to congratulate both of them on their respective promotions. During their time with the Group they have demonstrated exceptional technical knowledge as well as total commitment to delivering a first-class level of service to our clients.”
Jersey Managing Partner James Gaudin added: “Congratulations to both Paul and Johanna. It’s always special to be able to promote talented lawyers and, having watched them both develop and lead at Appleby Jersey, reward their hard work.
“Paul is already seen as a go-to senior lawyer and I have no doubt that his expertise in all aspects of corporate and finance transactions will enrich our partnership for the benefit of our clients and the global firm. Johanna has demonstrated exceptional knowledge and dedication to Appleby through her recent corporate finance work, while also being a mentor to our next-generation colleagues and an important part of our Women Leaders Network.
“I wish them all the best for this next stage of their careers and look forward to continuing to work closely with them.”
