Fraudsters are targeting people in Guernsey with a scam text message about an Amazon order.

Guernsey Police say the text appears to be coming from NatWest and alerts the recipient about a debit card payment to Amazon.

In a statement, the police say: “If you receive a suspicious text message purporting to be from NatWest, do not click on any links, or dial the numbers contained in the message. Contact your bank directly on the number on the back of your card, or report it to phishing@natwest.com”

The run up to Christmas is a prime time for scammers hoping to capitalise on a spike in online ordering.

Potential scam messages can also be reported here to Action Fraud which works with police forces across the British Isles.
