Alderney has appointed Adam Rose as the new Harbour Master. Adam steps up from his current role as Duty Harbour Master.
Alderney born and educated on the Island and in Guernsey, Adam (pictured) has worked at the Harbour since 2005 and brings to the post a wealth of experience in all aspects of harbour operations.
In recent months he has fulfilled the role of Duty Harbour Master and has worked together with Nigel Shaw to cover the vacant Harbour Master position following the resignation of previous Harbour Master John Taylor.
“It’s my aim to provide a robust and efficient service which will continue to serve the island in a safe and reliable manner,” said Adam, who steps up to his new role on January 1st 2023.
Boyd Kelly, Chairman of the General Services Committee, said: “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Adam as the new Harbour Master. Adam and Nigel Shaw have worked tirelessly during the six months in which we have been without a Harbour Master and they are to be congratulated on doing a great job along with the whole dockside team.
“They have overseen a most welcome return to form for the harbour following the difficulties thrown up by the pandemic and have worked long hours with commendable enthusiasm to make 2022 a record-breaking season for visiting vessels.
“The appointment process was carried out with the assistance of Captain David Barker, the Guernsey Harbour Master, and I am grateful for his support and advice.”
The vacancy created by Adam’s promotion will be filled early in 2023.
