Acorn are again launching an Advent Calendar on Giving Tuesday, 29 November.
Giving Tuesday was introduced internationally in response to the consumer-driven frenzy being seen on Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Islanders are asked to pick a number between 1 and 24 which relate to items on Acorn’s Amazon Wishlist. These will directly help people who have a disability or long-term health condition who attend Acorn’s training and development projects.
Fundraising & Relationships Manager Caroline Spencer said: “People have been so generous in supporting our Advent Calendar for the last two Decembers. It is a great way to support us, knowing that an item directly helps people who have a disability or health condition in their work and training.
“We ask people to order the item that goes with the number. The item gets sent directly to Acorn in Trinity. The prices range from £3.37 for a tube of glue to £39.99 for a staple gun. Most items are £20 or less.
“This will help our projects continue running into 2023 and will mean we can continue with our up-cycling, textiles, bikes and wooden products projects, which in turn generate an income.”
To take part, please email Caroline Spencer with your choice of number between 1 and 24. You can view the Wishlist for yourself here.
