Corbett Le Quesne’s office closed for a few hours on 5th January while the staff attended the swearing in of Advocate Kate Donohue and Ecrivain Jamie-Lee Morgan, as well as Advocate Barbara Corbett’s husband, James Corbett KC.
Thursday 5th January was the first court session of the year and the Deputy Bailiff was presiding.
Kate joined Corbett Le Quesne on 26 April 2022. Kate is a Barrister and as a very experienced litigator is looking forward to have rights of audience in court again.
Kate commented: “I love working in family law and qualifying as a Jersey Advocate means I can help my clients from the first meeting to the final hearing. My flight to Jersey was cancelled the day before the ceremony and it was almost as stressful trying to get back in time as it was studying for the extremely exacting exams in the first place!”
Jamie-Lee only joined Corbett Le Quesne on the 3rd of January this year. She commented “Barbara was the first person I met in family law when she recruited me to Hanson Renouf on 1 April 2011 as a receptionist. Advocate Le Quesne then joined the firm and I became a paralegal. We all worked there together while I studied toward my law degree.
“Starting at Corbett Le Quesne at the beginning of the year as a newly qualified Jersey Solicitor is such an exciting start to this chapter of my life.”
Advocate Corbett commented: “We are pleased and proud of both Kate and Jamie-Lee’s fantastic achievements. It was such a perfect day for all of us at Corbett Le Quesne. The team celebrated with family and friends in the Old Library after the ceremony as is traditional. It feels like the team is back together with Jamie-Lee joining, as Lizzie Keogh came with us when we established Corbett Le Quesne.
“We are so proud to see Jamie-Lee qualify after all her hard work since we first started working together. It was also lovely to welcome my husband, James, to the bar. He may have been called to the bar in 12 jurisdictions but having been my senior for many years at the English bar is he now my junior here in Jersey!”
