Local welfare charity, Wellbeing Animals Guernsey (WAG), has used proceeds from the Condor Community Fund to purchase equipment for therapy dogs to allow it to continue its valuable work supporting vulnerable islanders.
The charity is a network of individuals who deploy dogs to provide animal assisted therapeutic benefit to people of all ages.
WAG was a recent beneficiary of the Condor Fund so it could purchase much needed equipment for its animals.
Marguerite Talmage, Chair of WAG, was very pleased with the new kit.
“We are a hugely passionate group of animal lovers who believe dogs are a perfect antidote to stress and anxiety so the Condor donation helps us carry on supporting local people in the community, and we are grateful,” she said.
“Purchasing the leads and bandanas was relatively simple – asking the animals to pose for the photograph was another thing altogether!”
Tracy Peters, Condor’s Community Officer, said: “We regularly see passengers travel by sea with assistance dogs so were delighted to be able to help the WAG team and their four-legged friends with the work they do for this amazing charity.”
Condor’s Community Fund was established earlier this year and is designed to support islanders who give up their time to develop community activities. The Fund saw 83 applications from across the islands with a focus on sustainability, local benefit and enjoyment for others.
