Following the collapse of travel operator, Thomas Cook, the Channel Islands’ local airlines say they will do their best to help affected customers.

Both Aurigny and Blue Islands are offering Thomas Cook customers two weeks to change their local flights and will waive any change fees or fare differences that would otherwise have applied. Both airlines will also put flights on hold for six months if customers are not yet rebooking their holidays.

The airlines say they are sorry to hear of the closure of Thomas Cook and that their thoughts are with the staff and customers affected by the tour firm’s failure.

Chief Executive of Aurigny, Mark Darby said: “We know that some Aurigny customers will have flights and holidays booked with Thomas Cook, which will now need to be re-arranged and as Guernsey’s community airline we’d like to assist local residents who may have been affected by the collapse of the tour operator.”

Both Aurigny and Blue Islands are asking customers to re-arrange the other elements of their package before attempting to amend their Channel Island flights.

Customers have until the close of business on Monday 7 October to contact the airlines to rearrange their travel, and will need to provide evidence of their Thomas Cook booking.

Aurigny customers should call 01481 267267 with their booking reference, while Blue Islands’ customer care team can be reached on 01234 589200.
