More than 200 golfers took part in the Flagship Royal Guernsey Golf Club (RGGC) open event on Saturday 27 July. At The Butterfield Challenge Trophy, professional club mapping technology was used to measure strokes and improve players’ performances, which was supported by Butterfield.

The competition was open to all handicap golfers and included many visitors, as well as RGGC members. It is the only mixed open event held at the RGGC and attracts the largest number of competitiors.

The RGGC’s Club Manager Roy Bushby said: “We are extremely grateful to Butterfield for its support with The Butterfield Challenge Trophy. It enabled us to put on a fantastic event and offer an excellent prize table to the large field of competitors that we welcomed to the Club. Thanks to Butterfield, players also had access to the club mapping technology and valuable data at the event, which will help them improve their golfing performance for the future.”

Richard Saunders, Butterfield’s Managing Director, Channel Islands, said: “We were delighted to sponsor the RGGC’s annual competition which attracts golfers island-wide. It’s an excellent opportunity to showcase the fantastic golfing facilities that Guernsey has to offer.”

The winners of the event were Niall and Carol Counihan with the scratch prize going to Zac Hannis and Martin Ireland. Prizes were awarded for the top 15 nett scores, three scratch prizes and also three nearest the pins.
