Bright Futures looks to put Guernsey’s Human Capital needs in the spotlight

Bright Futures, a Guernsey based charity, has launched a survey to identify human capital gaps in Guernsey.

The survey which is running until the end of June is looking to analyse what human capital gaps there are currently in Guernsey’s economy and what potential gaps there could be over the next three years.

Bright Futures Director, Susie Crowder says, “A lack of available funding on the island, particularly for individuals and small/medium sized enterprises, has resulted in a variety of skills gaps arising. It is crucial that these gaps are addressed to ensure the business community has the human capital necessary to achieve their maximum performance and value on a global stage.”

Bright Futures was launched last year to ensure people have access to learning at any stage of their lives, to be able to better support the Island’s skills gap and contribute positively to the economy

“As a direct result of initial field research, we are aware that the digital literacy of all islanders is a concern as is the lack of work readiness of a growing number of school leavers.  Bright Futures are committed to working alongside businesses to ensure they have the right resources in place to facilitate human capital development that meets the future needs of Guernsey’s economy.” Mrs Crowder concludes.

Guernsey businesses are being encouraged to complete the short survey with the results being launched at the end of June.

The data from the survey will be shared with the OECD and the World Bank Human Capital Index who will consider benchmarking how the human capital currency of Guernsey compares with other jurisdictions, the results of which will feedback into Bright Futures strategy.
