Former JFSC manager launches independent advisory firm in Jersey

Prospero Advisory has launched in Jersey, offering advisory and operational leadership services to businesses across the offshore funds sector.

The firm was founded by Paul Monahan (pictured), who has nearly two decades of experience in Jersey’s financial services industry, including senior roles with Apex Group and Langham Hall and a period as Manager, Funds Authorisation at the Jersey Financial Services Commission.

Prospero will work with fund administrators, trust companies and corporate service providers, as well as fund managers, institutional investors and family offices.

Its advisory work will include market entry, governance and board advisory, provider and transaction due diligence, investor oversight, and support in distressed situations and wind-downs. The firm will also provide interim and fractional leadership, post-acquisition integration, regulatory remediation and operational transformation.

Alongside the launch, Prospero has published a research paper, The Intelligent Firm, looking at the potential impact of artificial intelligence on fund administrators and corporate service providers.

The paper follows recent guidance from the Jersey Financial Services Commission on the use of AI in financial services, including expectations around governance, explainability and human oversight.

Paul Monahan said: “Regulated firms in Jersey are under real pressure to raise governance standards and modernise their operations at the same time, and increasingly to do both while adopting AI responsibly. I have run these businesses, regulated them and sat on their boards, so I know how they work from every side of the table.

“Prospero exists to give boards, managers and investors practical, decision-ready support grounded in how these businesses actually run, and The Intelligent Firm is our opening contribution to that conversation.”
