Eleven high-achieving team members from across HSBC Channel Islands and Isle of Man were represented at the Bank’s annual global recognition awards recently, with two employees receiving special commendation.
Charlie Ovenden (pictured), Area Premier Relationship Manager at HSBC in Jersey, won the ‘Global People Leader Award’ and received special recognition at HSBC’s Circle of Excellence event, held last month in Kuala Lumpur. She was one of just seven global winners, selected from 360 overall recipients from across the bank.
In addition, Jersey-based James Bacon, Premier Relationship Director, was a runner-up in the ‘Customer Centricity Award’.
The Circle of Excellence is HSBC’s global recognition programme for the top 1-2% of customer-facing employees across its global International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) business, celebrating those who deliver exceptional service and customer experience across the bank.
With a theme this year of ‘Celebrate. Connect. Grow’, the programme is a strategic investment in the Bank’s top-performing frontline colleagues and exists to retain, motivate and connect talent. The four-day event was a mix of business breakout sessions and specially curated experiences designed to connect colleagues to something bigger, expanding their perspective from individual performance to global opportunity.
Alvaro Teixeira, Head of International Wealth and Premier Banking, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, said: “Attending the Circle of Excellence is already a major achievement – winning a global award is an even greater distinction. Charlie fully deserved the People Leader accolade. She embodies our mantra of ‘we succeed together’, delivering strong results while investing in others’ growth. Over the past year, she’s supported multiple promotions, helped colleagues gain professional qualifications, and led inclusive cross-network and community initiatives with lasting impact inside and outside the bank. Congratulations to Charlie, as well as James and all 11 colleagues from Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, for making it into the Circle of Excellence.”
